Jack-—

Many thanks for your letter and joining my little info
exchange. Enclosed are issues 4 and 5 of Volume 3, with
number & soon to come, I hope. Sorry it took me so long to
get back to you, things got really crazy a work, lots of óð
hour weeks, and then my car went down, and I‘m the mechanic.
That blew a week of nights, but I got the job done for #76. 9¢
in parts, which is cheap considering I got an estimate of #475
for the job-- No Complaints! Now, on to other matters.

About your wanting a dual set up for the 2848 and the 1686,

Tim Ward has a set up kind of like that, with Larken interfaces
all around. He has two interfaces feeding into one set of

disc drives, but no switches, he just physically hooks up the
drive cable to whatever interface he’s using. It only takes

a second and actually, we both tend to compute in spurts on one
computer or the other-- right now, I’m on a 2668 binge; last
week it was the 196@. I guess this is the same course you will
follow if you come up with a 18@@ drive interface. I am not
familiar with the Compusa interface, but anything is preferable
to GAPE. I am partial to Larken as the easiest to use for the
1996 as well as the cheapest, but I don't think they are
available any more-—- you might ask Rod Gowen how common any
TS-1888 disc interfaces are, as I think they re quite rare.

We might be down to “take what you can get for a good price”.
You might also write Larry Kenney and ask if he has any left,
they were $115 postpaid last I heard. Larry's address is on
the sheet I hopefully sent you earlier. As for your 2868, as
well as the 1886, Tim Ward and I have collected lots of public
domain software for both, so if you're interested, let me know.
The 2868 collection is up to 4 tapes, 163 programs, i966 is up
to ? tapes, 11 discs, 386 programs. Tim holds the 1986 set,

I hold the 2468 stuff, and Tim is at 5142-D Ginkgo Dr. SW,
Tacoma, WA 98439. Thanks again, and feel free to call or
write if you have any questions or just want to talk Sinclair.
